Meet our Founder and Chief Hiring Nerd: Ash Battye
Ash is the espresso-martini-loving hiring nerd behind Emerald HQ, and she knows firsthand that building a business isn’t about having it all figured out from day one. It’s about starting, adapting, and finding clarity as you go.
When she launched her business in 2021, the focus was helping job seekers stand out in broken recruitment systems. But as her work evolved, so did her purpose. She saw the real gap wasn’t just in candidates missing out - it was in business owners missing the support they needed to hire, lead, and actually enjoy running their business.
With a career spanning HR, recruitment, and organisational culture across industries and states, Ash had seen the same pattern repeat: brilliant women in business stuck in the messy middle - too big to keep doing it all themselves, but not big enough to have a corporate HR machine behind them. Emerald HQ was created to fill that gap.
Today, Ash and her team partner with women-led businesses around Australia to bring structure, confidence, and culture-first systems to hiring and HR. It’s never about corporate jargon or ticking boxes. For Ash, it’s about giving business owners the clarity and support to lead with purpose, build values-aligned teams, and create a business they actually enjoy.
